A year ago, a good friend, a photographer and an artist whom I deeply respect asked me to photograph his wedding. I couldn’t have been more honoured and excited… and then he asked me: “Have you ever been to France?”
Kevin and Anne-Gaëlle met a few years ago in Guatemala while they were travelling the world. Since then, their journeys have taken them to more than 20 countries together, making countless friends along the way. It was incredible to see people from all corners of the world gather to share in the celebration of these two amazing people. Kevin and Anne-Gaëlle brought everyone to Varengeville-sur-Mer, a small town on the beautiful cliffs of Normandy in northern France, near where Anne-Gaëlle grew up. The celebration lasted three days, with wine, cheese, Champagne, swimming and partying on the beach…all leading up to the most amazing wedding day. The ceremony and reception took place at the magnificent Le Bois des Moutiers – a world famous mansion and gardens dating back to the early 20th century. The incredible scenery combined with the energy of their family and friends made their Normandy France wedding a celebration like no other!
As a wedding photographer, you are excited when you are given the opportunity to shoot in such an elegant and beautiful setting. What really makes you feel lucky, though, is working with a couple that shares such a deep and natural connection as that of Kevin and Anne-Gaëlle’s. Their every touch, every kiss, every moment reminded me of why I love what I do so much – I get to capture what love truly is…
