For the past couple years, a shoot that had always been on my bucket list was a Drumheller engagement session. I had seen a few images taken in Drumheller from one of my favorite photographers and the rugged beauty of the landscape captured me. When Christian and Courtney had to cancel their trip to Whistler for their engagement session because they were too busy with work, we decided it was best that I came to see them in Alberta instead. When I suggested a Drumheller engagement session, I think they were a little bit confused, but they decided to trust me and just go with it. To this day it is one of my favorite sessions with one of my favorite couples.
Being used to living and working in the mountains of BC, Drumheller was such an inspiring contrast in every sense of the word, from the color of the rock to the way the light seemed to blanket the entire landscape. We spent our time slowly wandering around the barren lands, looking for breathtaking backdrops and pockets of beautiful light. We talked and laughed as we hiked, always in awe of our incredible surroundings. It was amazing just walking around, getting to know this wonderful couple, talking about their wedding at the Sea to Sky Gondola that we would get to see each other at again a few months later. We made it back just as the sun had set and the cool breeze had begun, with the beautiful orange and pink sky around us. It was an incredible experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to spend my time with for my bucket list Drumheller engagement session.
